Molasses Storages
Liners and flexible floating covers are used as a cost effective way to increase storage capacity of molasses required for stockfeed. Molasses Storages are similar to water storages consisting of a geomembrane base liner installed to an excavated storage area followed by the installation of a flexible membrane floating cover.
Molasses is pumped between the two layers causing the cover to rise with the increasing volume of molasses. The roof is designed to provide a much larger surface area when the storage is full. The roof helps keep out water and other unwanted matter. A gas ventilation system can also be incorporated in the roof cover if required to allow the collection and removal of gas created by the fermentation of the molasses.
